Our position

People who call an investigator are usually facing a hard decision. They deserve calm, candour and a clear account of what was found.

Our work is about reducing uncertainty, so that the decision in front of you is made on facts that have been gathered properly and written down plainly.

Where we help

Start with the question, not the tactic.

Organizations

“Is this complaint what it appears to be?”

Independent fact-finding into workplace allegations, misconduct and internal concerns, conducted with procedural care so decision-makers can act on a record rather than a rumour.

  • Workplace fact-finding
  • Misconduct inquiries
  • Internal concerns
Due diligence

“Who are we actually dealing with?”

Background and open-source research on prospective partners, hires, tenants and counterparties, drawn from lawfully accessible records and clearly sourced.

  • Background research
  • Open-source review
  • Counterparty checks
Legal support

“What can be established, and what cannot?”

Investigative support for counsel: locating witnesses, gathering statements, and organizing facts into a clear chronology. Admissibility is always a matter for counsel and the court.

  • Witness location
  • Statements
  • Chronologies
Individuals

“I need to know before I decide.”

Personal matters handled with discretion and restraint: verifying information, locating people you have a legitimate reason to find, and observation where it is lawful and proportionate.

  • Verification
  • Locates
  • Lawful observation

Services and methods depend on the matter and on applicable law. Scope, geography across the National Capital Region, and any licensing requirements are confirmed at consultation.

Process

Every step on the record.

Four stages, in order. Nothing moves to the next without your agreement.

  1. 01

    Consultation

A short, general conversation about the decision you face. We ask what you need to know, not for your evidence.

  2. 02

    Scope

We agree in writing on the questions, the methods, the limits and the budget before any work begins. If we are not the right fit, we will say so.

  3. 03

    Inquiry

Lawful, proportionate work: records research, interviews, open-source review and observation where appropriate. Progress is reported at agreed points.

  4. 04

    Report

A plain-language written report separating what was observed, what was sourced, and what remains unknown, with methods and limitations stated.

What you receive

A report you can read once and understand.

Findings are written for the person who has to decide, and structured so counsel, a board or an HR lead can follow exactly how each conclusion was reached.

Report structureIllustrative
QuestionThe decision the work was scoped to inform.
FindingsWhat was observed or sourced, each with its origin.
InferenceReasoned conclusions, clearly marked as such.
UnknownsWhat could not be established, and why.
Method & limitsHow the work was done, and its boundaries.
Boundaries

What we will do. What we won’t.

We will

  • Tell you at the outset what can and cannot reasonably be learned
  • Work within applicable Canadian and provincial law
  • Document how each finding was obtained
  • Distinguish fact from inference in every report
  • Recommend counsel or other help where that serves you better

We won't

  • Access private accounts, devices, email or phone records
  • Place tracking devices or intercept communications
  • Misrepresent ourselves to obtain protected information
  • Promise a particular finding before the work is done
  • Take on a matter where the purpose appears to be harassment
Grounded here

A Canadian firm based in Ottawa, working for clients across the National Capital Region, from downtown offices to rural townships.

Matters that cross into Gatineau or elsewhere in Quebec raise separate legal and licensing questions. We discuss geography openly at consultation and will tell you if a matter is outside what we can take on.
